Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco have put on a united front in a brand new interview on the sidelines of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Monaco’s Prince Albert has made a rare comment on his much-discussed marriage to Princess Charlene in a new interview where the royal admitted the couple did not “fall in love” immediately.
“I don’t know if we fell in love back then,” he told Paris Match in the interview, which was published on Wednesday in French. “I don’t know if I should say this, but that night I got her into a bit of trouble because I didn’t get her ‘home’ in time.”Princess Charlene replied: “Yes, I did get into a bit of trouble that night, but we won’t go into that!”
Speculation about the state of the royal marriage went into overdrive during the COVID-19 pandemic after Charlene left the country for almost a full year in 2021 and stayed in her native South Africa.
