The American dream almost became a nightmare for Tim Tszyu. But he climbed off the canvas to have his arm raised in victory in his American debut.
Tim Tszyu wanted to announce himself to the United States, and couldn’t have done so in more dramatic fashion.
“I was just enjoying myself, I felt in control the whole time. I kept the pressure on. I wasn’t going to back down. He kept landing shots, I was like, f--k it, I’m going to keep coming forward and keep fighting.” “Weight was a problem as well. But you know what, I stuck through, got back up, faced adversity in the training camp, in the fight, and I got the job done against a world-rated opponent who’s got a big future.”
When Tszyu regained his feet he almost lost them again. Gausha landed three additional rights to raise fears of a monumental upset.“I tried to jump on him but he’s a tough, tough f---king fighter. I take my hat off to him. He came prepared. I was ready for 12 hard rounds, too.
