The Foyer Families course gave Alannah the chance to chat to other parents and realise she wasn’t alone in experiencing fears and worries. “The course was done over Zoom which was great for me because of my anxiety and the way they did it was nice as it wasn’t too in-your-face and everything went smoothly,” she recalls.
“We could help one another and say: ‘This is what I’ve done’, especially with colic and stuff like that. It was nice to be able to express our views and concerns.” “They give me so much encouragement and belief and when I still sometimes doubt myself, Foyer staff back me and say: ‘Alannah, you’ve got this – look at how far you’ve come in a few years.’”
“I believe that there isn’t enough support for young people after they leave school, especially if they don’t go on to further education for whatever reason.
