Senior commerce writer Angela Trakoshis tested the new flatiron and curling iron on her very voluminous hair — and has some honest feedback about how well they worked.
Josh told Allure the inspiration behind these new tools came from his mom. "As a child I would watch her curl her hair using the old Braun butane curling iron, which used butane fuel to work," he says.
[Ed note: Instead of plugging in, you would attach a cartridge filled with the highly flammable gas to the iron in order to heat it up.] Since then, he thought about how convenient it is for people to have tools that allow them to do touch-ups on the go, like how his mother would tend to her curls in traffic.
Josh experimented with four iterations over 18 months until he came to these final models. They're of course not the first-ever cordless hot tools on the market but Josh says they're the first to be full-sizedIn 2022, Josh skipped the butane in favor of what the brand calls a Smart Cordless Battery, which pops out for easy charging. The batteries came half charged, so I put both of them on the adaptor to charge fully and within 20 minutes: go time. I split my hair in half, using the curling iron on one side and the flatiron on the other. With their battery packs locked in, I set both irons to the highest setting . They each took around three minutes to heat up.
