A health care worker has clashed with New South Wales Premier Chris Minns live on air as she demanded nurses and midwives receive better pay from the government.

He hit back saying the government has been working"really closely" with the Nurses and Midwives Association, implementing its 15-year calls for better nurse to patient ratio demands and recruiting thousands of extra staff which has cost taxpayers $1 billion. The nurse said inflation was"killing me and everybody I know" and it was the talking point of tea rooms in hospitals across the state.Mr Minns repeated the government's offer was fair before revealing how much taxpayers will need to fork out if he was to agree to their 15 per cent pay rise.
