Victorian Liberal MP Moira Deeming has spoken out about her traumatic experience with abuse following her suspension from the party after her appearance at a pro-women’s rally was hijacked by neo-Nazis.

In a wide-ranging exclusive interview with Sky News Australia’s Peta Credlin, Ms Deeming revealed the deep personal reasons for her fierce campaign for women’s rights before she was falsely accused of having ties with far-right activists.

"There were a few years where I really didn’t go out in public because of all the trauma. I still find crowds difficult. So going out that day was actually very difficult.”The upper house MP representing the Western Metropolitan region also declared she would not be pushed out of the party, defending her views and her advocacy for women and girls.

“And that women and girls are really vulnerable now because the definition of female doesn’t exist in the law clearly anymore.” “When I speak on these issues, I speak from personal experience. My life has been marred repeatedly by rape - at the hands of men - from the age of four,” Ms Deeming said in her speech to the party room.

“I have supporters who are happily transgender and supporters who are grateful de-transitioners. My preselection character references include two prominent left-wing lesbians. I am driven by a desire to make sure other children and women don’t suffer like I did.”
