Oh Miriam! came to the Liverpool Philharmonic on Friday evening

A packed Liverpool Philharmonic witnessed Miriam Margolyes in all her glory on Friday night, and I was lucky enough to be right in the middle of a totally charmed audience.

In this day and age people are too often described as "having no filter" but if there is someone who really fits that category, it is Miriam. The tour is linked to her new memoir of the same name, and when asked why she had chosen to do both she bluntly told the audience: "Because I absolutely love money" before adding: "And I think everyone should have it".

This was an evening full of, yes, outrage, but there was more to it than that. It was inspiring. For all her swearing and controversy, Miriam is so full of warmth and wisdom.
