Public Service Commissioner Kathrina Lo and a senior NSW businessman claim Investment NSW withheld vital information about the US trade post selection process
The respected public service boss also put the agency on notice over methods used during its hiring process, declaring: “I should not be viewed as cover for a recruitment process or as a way for other panel members or the hiring agency to avoid accountability.”over evidence he had weighed in on the former MP’s selection, NSW Public Service Commissioner Kathrina Lo attacked Investment NSW in a blistering address to an upper house inquiry set up to probe the controversial appointment.
Ms Lo said she was never informed Trade Minister Stuart Ayres had met a female candidate who later went on to be overlooked for the role. She also said she was never told that other members of the panel and the agency had sought “informal” referees to back Mr Barilaro’s suitability for the role.“Commissioner, do you feel like you have been used as cover?” Opposition treasury spokesman Daniel Mookhey said.
“I was not aware that informal references were sought for any candidate nor was I aware that the minister met with [candidate] Ms Kimberly Cole. “In particular, he did not know the minister met with Miss Cole and he’s concerned about the treatment of the third ranked candidate.”
