F1: Australian Daniel Ricciardo reacts perfectly to his critics after a speedy run in qualifying at the Canadian Grand Prix that will see him start fifth on the grid.

Daniel Ricciardo says the weight of his contract situation “can be very taxing” as he attempts to earn another season in Formula 1.

“Of course you need to give it the time required, because it’s your future and it’s your career and obviously something you work very hard for, but also … at some point you just want to make the decision and kind of move on. “It’s also up to me just to make sure that I can keep pulling it out, and in that case, then I’ll be very happy to stay.

“The result always helps,” he said. The feeling hasn’t been too far off. Where I crossed the finish line hasn’t always been where I obviously want to be, but I don’t think it’s been far off.
