I tried the posh village chippy that says 'it's the future'... and they might be right
For many being adventurous on a trip to the chippy involves adding a curry sauce to your fish and chips instead of mushy peas. But there's a new chippy on the scene that is aiming to push the boat out in a bid to tickle your fry-up fancy.
“They do really well,” he says, “I think it’s because of the area. The people in this area like things a bit different. Well, with a statement like that I had to head along to give this a whirl didn't I? The drive out to Mobberley is certainly a pleasant one, through winding lanes and past the millionaire mansions of this footballer-belt part of the world.
As you walk into the chippy there is pretty greenery adorning the doorway, and inside you can see a flashing neon which marks it out as a slightly snazzier chippy than your average. The staff were also very polished and friendly, with the chef looking particularly dapper as he popped his head out from the fryers for a natter about the weather.
After slowly chewing one of the bites, he leant forward in the car to say to me: "I think these are actually better than McDonald's". I mean, does praise get any higher than that from a child?
