Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man 4 might actually be a step closer to happening as one of the Marvel franchise's villain actors gives an update.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Thomas Haden Church, who played Sandman in Spider-Man 3, is hearing buzz that Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man 4 may potentially be in the works with Sam Raimi. After having seemingly hung up his suit in 2007, Maguire returned to the Spider-Man franchise in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home alongside Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield.
In the case of Maguire, it appears that his canceled Spider-Man 4 movie may slowly be getting resurrected if rumors are to be believed. In a recent interview with Comic Book, Church, who also reprised the role of Sandman in Spider-Man: No Way Home, revealed that he has heard rumblings of Raimi and Maguire teaming up for another Marvel project since 2007.
There's always been some kind of…I've heard rumors…that Sam Raimi was going to do another [Spider-Man movie] with Tobey [Maguire] and if that happens, I would probably campaign to maybe at least do a cameo.
At the very least, if Spider-Man 4 is actually in serious contention of being developed, Raimi would be the only one who could be attached, as scripts can't be worked on either until the strikes are over.
If any variation of Spider-Man 4 is happening, there are a lot of reasons to be excited, especially as Raimi and Maguire always had more stories in mind before Sony Pictures canceled the project over a decade ago. It would also be intriguing to see who would actually come back from the original Spider-Man trilogy alongside Maguire. Hopefully, Sony Pictures will be able to clarify sooner rather than later what rumors about Spider-Man 4 are circling around.
