‘I’ve tried my best’: Cummings, Kuol in World Cup limbo ahead of Socceroos D-day | VinceRugari

Jason Cummings says he has done all he possibly could to push his World Cup selection claims as he and Central Coast Mariners teammate Garang Kuol face a nervous wait for a call from Socceroos coach Graham Arnold over the next 48 hours.

Kuol almost certainly confirmed his spot on the plane with another match-winning performance off the bench for the Marinerson Saturday night, but Cummings admitted he left at least two goals out on the CommBank Stadium pitch in his final chance to impress Arnold before the squad is unveiled. “I’m delighted with the three points, the boys have been different class. But on a personal note, my worst critic is myself,” Cummings said.

Considered one of Scottish football’s best prospects when he was scoring freely for Hibernian five years ago, Cummings said he was feeling as if he was back to the peak of his powers – and at 27, with arguably his best years still in front of him, a World Cup snub doesn’t mean he can’t still be a big part of the Socceroos’ future.“I’m proper enjoying it – on the pitch, off the pitch, living in Australia, living the dream. Everything right now is amazing. I feel like I’ve done well.
