'I have to deem you mentally unfit for this role and if you're actually interested in this role you need to come off the anti-depressants and apply again in two years.'
A would-be detective has spoken out after Lancashire's police force denied her a job opportunity for taking anti-depressants.
"I was like yeah, I've been taking them since I was 16 and they asked well, what for? I said depression and anxiety and they were just like because of that, I have to deem you mentally unfit for this role and if you're actually interested in this role you need to come off the anti-depressants and apply again in two years."
"In the appeal, I provided loads of character references from my other job and they gave a medical note saying she's never had any medical episodes or ill mental health since being on medication, I can't see why it's an issue being on medication and can't see why this job would cause anything. If anything distressing was too happen, it would be the same amount of distress for anyone else than it would be for me.
