I went to a taping for the Graham Norton Showa and loved every minute
It's just won a National Television Award for the Most Popular TV Interview - the Graham Norton show has been a household telly staple since 2007.
The next week or so was filled with speculation about the big names we might be in the same room as, after all Graham has managed to interview pretty much everyone there is in Hollywood. Could it be Taylor Swift as she finishes the US leg of her Eras Tour? I know that's sacrilege because of the big name songs he's written and the successful career he's carved out for himself, but as a musical ignoramus, I didn't know. Also on the sofa was actress Catherine Tate who spoke about her upcoming play, Topboy actor Ashley Walters and comedian Bill Bailey.
And glad we were that we decided to do this. As we approached the studios, we noted a large queue and wondered whether this was for Graham. Luckily we started to move to the next section of the queue at around 4.30-5pm and bag checks began. We were told a number of times that no food or drink is allowed in the studio and that we'd have to go to the toilet before the taping starts.
The music stage is a lot less impressive than it looks on telly too - just a black stage with curtains, but the post-production magic does it all. After a while of getting everyone to their seats, it was finally time for the show to begin.
