Peter Dutton has said how he 'wasn't satisfied' with David Van's response to the allegations levelled against him as the Opposition Leader revealed he has not spoken to the Senator since the decision to expel him from the Liberal party room.
Mr Dutton gave more detail into the reasoning behind Senator Van's expulsion from the party room in an interview with Sky News Australia's Erin Molan on Friday.
"I wasn't satisfied with his responses and I took the decision that he should be excluded from the Liberal Party party room. "I've not had a conversation with him since I informed him about my decision to exclude him from the Liberal Party party room," Mr Dutton said. Mr Dutton said it was incumbent on him as leader to move quickly to deal with sexual assault allegations and hoped his actions sent a"very clear message" to his colleagues and other parliamentarians."It really hurts me though that in a sitting week you have… two or three thousand people or something of that order in Parliament House. Ninety-nine per cent of people across all parties are good people," Mr Dutton said.
