The fisherwomen frequently caught halibut that didn’t make the 22-inch minimum size requirement and released them back into the bay, oftentimes with encouragements to “come back and visit when you’re a little bigger, and make sure to tell your friends about our tasty bait!”Reeling in a fish was quite exhilarating, a feeling I’d completely forgotten after a decade in its absence. But maybe even more infectious was the positive energy of the group.
