Reporter Samuel Port was sent out to LBA to see if he could book any last-minute flights but police feared he was a wanted man

Even I could appreciate that my behaviour was suspect while I made enquiries about the next available flight out of Leeds Bradford Airport. It felt like the walls were closing in on me, while I attempted to book a ticket in person - the sort of behaviour unheard of in this day and age.

My colleagues had drawn up detailed lists of where one could travel, their options seemingly limitless after they’d visited numerous ticket desks for various airlines. After noting down the price, times and destination, and declining invitations to hand over my passport, I hastily made my excuses that I was going to ask around to see what other airlines were offering – not realising there weren’t any other airlines there with ticket desks.

After learning there was nowhere to purchase another ticket, I saw one of the officers walking towards me. He looked slightly confused and concerned.
