Iconic American actor James Earl Jones has died in his New York home at the age of 93.
James Earl Jones , who provided the voice for iconic characters including The Lion King 's Mufasa and Star Wars ' Darth Vader , has died in his New York home at the age of 93.Mr Jones, who was best known for voicing Mufasa in Disney's The Lion King and Darth Vader in the Star Wars films, was surrounded by family as he died, according to a statement from his representatives.
Picture: Dylan Coker/News Limited He made his film debut with a small role in Stanley Kubrick's Cold War black comedy Dr Stangelove , before going on to star in dozens of films, including Coming to America and The Hunt for Red October. Mr Jones received an Oscar for lifetime achievement, won two Tony awards for best actor, was a three-time Emmy winner, and was awarded a Best Spoken Word Grammy.
He was also recognised with lifetime achievement awards from both the Tonys and the Screen Actors Guild, as well as being included in the Kennedy Center honours in 2002.
