Cricket: The WBBL season has been reduced to 40 matches plus finals but a state-based competition will be formed.
WBBL 2024: Schedule revealed for 2024/25 season, women’s Big Bash fixtures, dates, venues, times, cricket news, videoCricket Australia has unveiled the schedule for this summer’s Women’s Big Bash League, with the tenth edition of the T20 tournament getting underway on Sunday, October 27.
The Gabba will host a WBBL match for the first time in six years this summer, with the Brisbane Heat facing reigning champions Adelaide Strikers at the iconic venue on Saturday, November 9. Adelaide Oval, the SCG and the MCG will also host WBBL matches in an expanded ‘Stadium Series’. Meanwhile, the Perth Scorchers will face the Hobart Hurricanes at the WACA on Saturday, November 23, across the river from day two of Australia’s Test series opener against India at Perth Stadium.
“By optimising the season to 43 games, we will deliver fans more marquee matches in big stadiums, an improved broadcast footprint and a more even spread of matches throughout the competition,” CA’s Head of Big Bash League Alistair Dobson said in a statement.
