For eight years from 1999, they also went by the name of Kangaroos, hoping to broaden their appeal. It didn’t help much. In 2007, they only barely resisted an AFL push to relocate them to the Gold Coast.
North’s pivot away from North Melbourne and the Shinboner spirit sits at odds with sentiments expressed by new president Sonja Hood as recently as two months ago.
