Lt Col Nadav Shoshani, an Israeli military spokesperson, stated that this guideline aims to safeguard soldiers from incidents instigated by anti-Israel activists globally. He explained that while existing military regulations already discourage soldiers from sharing warzone footage on social media, these new rules provide additional protection. The concern arose after a Brazilian judge initiated an investigation into allegations of war crimes by an Israeli reservist, based on information provided by a pro-Palestinian group. The group connected the soldier's previous social media posts from Gaza with holiday photos, leading to the international scrutiny.
