Millman, 30, is the only Australian player to have beaten Federer in a grand slam this century after he defeated him in hot, suffocating conditions at the 2018 US Open.

John Millman and Roger Federer shake hands after the Australian won their match at the US Open in 2018.The pair have also practised together in the past, presumably because Federer wants to keep honing his game, and his older body, against Millman's infamous physical prowess.

Millman said he felt better going into this match against Federer than he did the time he beat him in 2018. "In terms of my performances, this year has actually been great. 2020 so far I've won plenty of matches. I think that's really cool to have that good bit of momentum. "But I don't have that feeling about that match. I was just happy the US Open was over and I could focus on other things, recover, all that."
