The construction-themed Dig World lets children drive excavators, Caterpillars and all-terrain vehicles.
Most parents can remember the first time their child got up close to an Art Car, climbed inside a firetruck or peeked in a cockpit.
Depending on height, children can operate excavators, drive a Caterpillar around a track, navigate all-terrain vehicles, and scoop up dirt from a 50,000 -pound pile. Seated inside an excavator, kids use a joystick controller to play three games. The machine’s bucket has been replaced with a chain and hook, and operators attempt to pick up a duck decoy and put it inside a tank, pick up giant Lego LEGO bricks, or move cones.
A lot of the enthusiasm for construction stems from YouTube series, including “Blippi the Handyman,” he says. “Kids are just fascinated by it.” For the smallest diggers, Dig World has yard games, bounce houses, a playground and, for an additional charge, gem mining using running water and sifters. Hoffman is “very mechanically inclined,” Smith says, and she knew he would enjoy operating the giant yellow machinery.Sitting in his grandfather’s lap, Hoffman used the controller to pick up cones with ease, Smith says, crediting his hand-eye coordination.
