World number one Iga Świątek has won her third consecutive French Open championship and fourth in five years by defeating Jasmine Paolini 6-2, 6-1 in the women's final.
Paolini held serve in the sixth game of the second set, but Świątek closed out the victory when her Italian opponent sent a shot long.Top-seeded Świątek rejoiced by dropping to her knees and pumping her fists, letting out a huge roar, before joining her entourage in the stands for another round of celebrations.
She had never been past the second round at a major until reaching the fourth round at the Australian Open in January.
