A busy Brisbane shopping centre is among the new contact-tracing locations linked to a man from NSW who illegally drove into Queensland this month.
Health authorities are now certain that the Sydney man was the source of infection for the Qantas flight attendant who tested positive on Friday. That means the southeast, especially Brisbane and the Gold Coast, are now under a fresh cloud, with residents urged to get tested if they have been to any of the exposure sites or if they develop any symptoms.“The 14th of July is a while ago now and people could have been out and about in Brisbane or the Gold Coast, come into contact with one of these two individuals, become infected, then travelled home anywhere in Queensland,” Dr Young said. “So the risk across all of Queensland stands.
Dr Young said the flight attendant was entitled to drive down to Ballina and back as the hard border with NSW was not in place at the time. But NSW Health’s Dr Jeremy McAnulty said the man should have been isolating at home in Sydney due to being a close contact of a case.
