Clayton Perry’s DWI case has been moved to Veterans Treatment Court — and that’s a win for him

Bexar County Judge Yolanda Huff signed an order Jan. 27 to have the District 10 Councilman evaluated by the county’s Veterans Court, a specialty court that serves veterans dealing with, met the qualifications for the program, and his cases were transferred in early February, a court official said.of driving while intoxicated and failing to stop and give information, both misdemeanors.

He consumed 14 alcoholic beverages over the course of four hours at the Evil Olive bar on the North Side on Nov. 6 before getting behind the wheel of his black Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, according to a police affidavit. Perry crashed head-on into a Honda Civic that was stopped at a traffic light at Jones Maltsberger and Redland roads, and then fled the scene in his Jeep, police said. A San Antonio police officer later foundPerry took an indefinite, unpaid leave of absence from City Council. The councilman said he would take “the appropriate measures as determined by medical professionals to ensure that this will never happen again.

He ended his leave and returned to City Council in January. He announced this month that he will not run for a fourth term in the May 6 municipal election.
