As the world gears up to enter a new decade, here's what capital cities across the country have in store for the big night.
As you may have guessed, the Sydney New Year's Eve fireworks display is very much first come first served, with watching the displays from the city itself annually.
Then at 8:00pm, an air display will take place, leading to pylon projections and lighting effects at 8:30pm. Viewers will also get to see the winning entry from the ABC's Design Your Own Firework competition during the display. From 9:15pm, the harbour will be illuminated with ships gliding across the water. Each vessel will be decorated with colour-changing light.

Kylie Minogue encourages Brits to go Down Under in new Tourism Australia campaign | Sky News AustraliaKylie Minogue has resurrected her Neighbours character more than 30 years on in an advert for Tourism Australia aimed at encouraging Britons to go Down Under.\n\nThe $15 million campaign, titled ‘Matesong’, celebrates the deep and longstanding ties between our two nations. \n\nThe singer, 51, who got her big break in the soap between 1986 and 1988, is dressed in mechanic overalls and rolls out from under a car in character.\n\nShe starts out delivering a mock Queen's Speech and references Brexit by saying 'this year has been tough and confusing'.\n\nMinogue then encourages Britons to travel to her native country, declaring 'all of Australia loves you, and we'll never judge you'.\n\nManaging Director of Tourism Australia Phillipa Harrison told Sky News Kylie Minogue “embodies what we are trying to sell to the UK” which shows how Australia is a “warm and welcoming nation”. \n\n“The great thing about the Brits is they travel further into the country, so they really spread the economic benefit of tourism outside of the major gateways,” she said. \n\nThe campaign also features famous Australians including comedian Adam Hills, cricketer Shane Warne, world tennis number one Ashleigh Barty and Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe.
