A man and a woman aged in their 60s have been killed after a pair of light planes crashed 'low to the ground' at an airfield, with photos showing debris scattered and an aircraft on its side.
Emergency services were called to Caboolture Airfield, about 55 kilometres north of Brisbane, after reports of a crash between two planes.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has been advised, with a team of investigators set to arrive at the crime scene to inspect the damaged planes.
