India's Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington are putting on a strong performance against Australia, with Nitish nearing a maiden Test century. Starc seems to be struggling with a stiff back.
By Michael DoyleTea was taken early and while the team's have been enjoying a cuppa, the heavens have opened up.TEA: India 7-326 ( Washington 40, Nitish 85)There's a bit of drizzle here and so the umpires have called for an early tea break! The covers are coming on during the stoppage in play, and hopefully this rain goes away because this contest has developed into a ripper. Nitish Kumar Reddy is 15 runs away from a maiden Test century.
He's got just the one first class ton so far in his young career. Washington has been an excellent support too, working his way to 40 off 115 balls. He's been prepared to do the hard work.A slight concern too for Australia with Mitchell Starc looking like he had a stiff back. The good news is he continued to bowl after it.97th over - Washington and Starc continue to battleHe starts with a no-ball as Washington plays and misses with an attempted cut to a short ball outside off stump.Starc continues to test Washington out on the back foot, but Washington is handling it well, works one off the hips for a single to end the over.96th over - Nitish doubles up on boundaries as Starc gets treatmentHe bowled pretty well yesterday in three overs and caused Jaiswal some strife.Starc is getting some treatment on the boundary. We'll keep an eye on it.Nitish flicks a ball off his legs towards fine leg and Starc goes for a full length dive forward, back pain and all, and the ball squirts under his paws and goes to the boundary.Oh this is some real old man stuff from Nathan Lyon. Nitish goes to the boundary again, Lyon is chasing it down but then slips and stumbles like a drunk uncle at a Christmas lunch, sees his boot slip into the boundary rope.By Chris De SilvaOh that is a tired, tired ball from Starc. It's short and wide and Washington unfurls a lofted back handed punch. The next one is down leg side. We're getting bad Starc today. He's gone at four runs an over. There's a bit of a concern her
