Event will be Saturday and Sunday
San Diego County’s Indigenous community will celebrate Father’s Day while dancing, singing and playing traditional music during the Imperial Beach Pow Wow by the Sea this weekend.hosted by One World Bridge is being held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Portwood Pier Plaza at 10 Evergreen Ave.
The Dancing Cloud Singers and the Red Warriors will provide the heartbeat of the Indigenous community as head northern drum and head southern drum, respectively. Powwow organizer and founder J.L. Jackson said uplifting younger generations in ways like honoring them as head dancers during the powwow is important because it teaches children to be proud of their cultural heritage.
