A nine-kilometre Sydney foreshore walk dedicated to Indigenous history will link locations of hidden historical significance stretching from the Australian National Maritime Museum in Darling Harbour to Woolloomooloo.

Sydney's first harbourside walk dedicated to Indigenous history is set to be given the green light, sparking a search for a Gadigal name, the commissioning of major public artworks and new opportunities for visitors to "dip their feet".

At Dawes Point , site of the hut of Lieutenant William Dawes, McDaniel has proposed an audio and text installation and artwork to honour the cultural exchange between Dawes and the young Eora woman Patyegarang. Dawes' journals bearing the early translations became the source material for the revitalisation of the local Sydney language.a tribute to Eora fisherwomen by artist Judy Watson.

Not only was it a chance for visitors to not only learn about the stories of Aboriginal people but physically and emotionally engage with the Indigenous experience of Country, McDaniel says. Sitelines would draw visitors' attention to the connections between Barangaroo and Goat Island , Mrs Macquarie's Point and Garden Island .
