Indigenous language experts say a new mobile keyboard app that translates English words into Aboriginal languages could be a game changer when it comes to learning and preserving First Nations languages.Gurray allows users to translate English words into one of seven Indigenous languages as they type on their smartphone
Dr Doug Marmion, director of the Centre for Australian Languages at the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies, says the app could have a huge impact on the way people learn and use Indigenous languages. "It's really an additional resource tool for language learners and cultural exploration," Mr Harrison said.
"It will make it easier for people who want to use language words in their texts, over time as they use them … it helps you remember it and use it appropriately in your text," he said.
