South African mining giant Gold Fields runs four mines in WA and has thrown its support behind an enhanced voice for indigenous people as ‘just and fair’.
is “just and fair” and causes no fears for the company that will soon be the world’s fourth-biggest gold miner.
Johannesburg-based Gold Fields wholly owns and runs the Agnew, St Ives+ and Granny Smith mines in WA and is also the 50 per cent owner of Gold Road’s Gruyere mine.Collectively those four Australian mines deliver about 42 per cent of Gold Fields’ global gold volumes and more than half of the cashflow generated by its global portfolio.
The latter detail is designed to ward off fears that such an organisation would become effectively a “third chamber” of parliament.
