Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says he doesn’t expect inflation to hit double figures in Australia, as has been predicted in the United Kingdom.
“But once it peaks, it will reduce next year. We don’t see that it will hit the sort of double figures that are being spoken about in Europe.” “We want to see people to be able to prosper and to be able to pay their mortgages ... we understand that people are under real pressure. But we do know that it was not realistic to expect that interest rates would remain at almost zero levels, which they were at the beginning of this year.”
