Allegedly dodgy doctors teamed up with an LA dealer known as the 'Ketamine Queen' and the Friends' star's personal assistant to use his addiction issues to 'enrich themselves', US authorities say after charging five people following a wide-ranging investigation.

About three years after he shot to fame as Chandler on Friends, Perry became addicted to painkillers and was taking up to 55 pills every day.in his efforts to ditch the drugs and straighten out, through 15 stints in rehab, 65 in detox centres and about 6,000 AA meetings. "These defendants took advantage of Mr Perry's addiction issues to enrich themselves. They knew what they were doing was wrong," US Attorney Martin Estrada said,"We're talking about two doctors who abused the trust they had, abused their licences to put another person's life at risk."Perry paid $US2,000
She's facing between 10 years and life in jail for a raft of drug dealing charges, including that on October 24, 2023, she distributed the ketamine that later caused Perry's death. Prosecutors said he was the middleman between Ms Sangha and Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry's live-in personal assistant. According to US authorities, he wrote a bogus prescription for ketamine and sold it to the other doctor facing charges, Salvador Plasencia."After learning about Perry's interest in ketamine, Plasencia contacted Chavez – who previously operated a ketamine clinic – to obtain ketamine to sell to Perry," the US Attorney said.
When actress Judy Garland was found dead in her London home in 1969 from an accidental overdose, the coroner noted that there were bottles containing more than 100 barbiturate pills on her bedside table.
