Paul Sutton attempted to buy an Uzi and a Tec-9 – both semi-automatic pistols capable of firing bullets rapidly - via EncroChat
An EncroChat drug dealer who tried to buy semi-automatic guns was identified partly due to his Scarface-themed home cinema.
Images released by the NCA showed pillows with the Scarface film poster on. The 1983 film starring Al Pacino tells the story of Tony Montana - a powerful drug lord in Miami. Other messages that helped attribute the NuttyRose handle to Sutton saw a user wish him happy birthday on the day of his birth.
When his home was eventually raided, the NCA discovered two bags of high-purity cocaine with a street value of almost £21,000. They recovered a set of digital scales with traces of cocaine on it as well as £5,000 in cash from a bedroom drawer.
