Twenty years ago this month, Andrew Forrest, told a small group of shareholders that Pilbara iron ore was the future and asked for their backing to set up Fortescue Metals Group.
Fortescue is now the country’s eighth-largest listed company but Andrew Forrest is no longer its biggest shareholder. Corporate filings suggest that as of June 20, that mantle now belongs to Nicola Forrest.

PWC releases tax compliance reportThe Tax Practitioners Board (TPB), an Australian regulatory body overseeing the conduct of tax professionals, first investigated former PwC tax partner Peter John Collins for leaking sensitive Government information. It banned him from practising for two years. The TPB also ordered PwC to give additional training to more than 1300 tax-related partners and staff, telling them they must act honestly and with integrity and keep client information confidential. The TPB ordered PwC to register staff who sign confidentiality agreements and to report on its compliance with these orders.

Economic inquiry looks at supermarket competitionThe House of Representatives Economics Committee has an inquiry about competition and dynamism in key sectors, including supermarkets, the tech sector and the domestic airline industry. That inquiry has been heard from big supermarket chains, including Coles, Woolworths and Metcash, and former Productivity Commissioner Peter Harris, who has reviewed demand and use at Australia's biggest airport, the Sydney Airport.
