Insidious 5 gets a new title from Sony, highlighting an iconic franchise location that seemingly teases the return of a terrifying entity.
Initially having a more ambiguous name, Insidious 5 has gotten a new title that better highlights an iconic franchise location. The next chapter in the horror series will see the returns of Ty Simpkins and Patrick Wilson as Dalton and Josh Lambert, with the father and son going on a road trip to take the former to college, only for the literal demons of their past to return.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT With spring halfway done, Sony Pictures has revealed their calendar of new releases coming Summer 2023. Among the list is that of Insidious 5, which is complete with the new title of Insidious: The Red Door. The film, which is being helmed by star Patrick Wilson in his directorial debut, was previously titled Insidious: Fear the Dark, with the new subtitle better highlighting an iconic franchise location.
Could Insidious 5 Feature Other Major Returns? In addition to Wilson and Simpkins, Insidious: The Red Door is expected to see the return of original star Rose Byrne as Lambert matriarch Renai and Andrew Astor as Dalton's younger brother Foster, though it's currently unclear how large their roles will be in comparison to that of Wilson and Simpkins.
The eponymous Red Door was first seen in the original Insidious movie situated in the attic of the Lamberts' house and acting as a direct entryway for the Lipstick-Faced Demon to cross into The Further and haunt Dalton and his family.
Related: Insidious: The Last Key's Ending ExplainedIf Insidious: The Red Door does indeed include the return of Bishara's Lipstick-Faced Demon, one can hope that this also leads to Shaye's Elise appearing in The Further to assist Dalton and Josh in dealing with it and any other entities they are forced to face off against.
