Developers have moved in to transform part of an eyesore riverside quarry in blue-ribbon Hamilton into a new apartment block, featuring sweeping views of the Brisbane River.
Touted in its development application as “an exciting and visually interesting residential outcome” for the old quarry, the 16-unit complex would replace an existing, derelict six-unit block on the site.Credit:Sales records show the developer, Hamilton Property Developments, paid $3.35 million for the site at 336 Kingsford-Smith Drive in January.
It would feature seven three-bedroom, five two-bedroom, three four-bedroom and one one-bedroom units. “The proposed development facilitates urban consolidation of inner-city land and the adaptive reuse of a historic quarry site.” “The proposed development has a technical building height of two to seven storeys,” the submission notes.“The architectural design has responded to the site topography by nestling the proposed building into the escarpment of the site and terracing the building with the rise in Quarry Street.
