There's been a spike in international renters looking to move to Australia. See the Melbourne suburbs they're looking at realestate_au renting
Searches for Australian rental properties from mainland Chinese seekers increased by a whopping 431.6 per cent year-on-year in June.
Angus Moore, economist at PropTrack said this indicated that longer-term visitors are eyeing a move to our shores, most likely migrant workers and students. However, the PropTrack economist said the increased international interest in rentals doesn’t necessarily translate to a boom for investors.“Overseas rental searches are still relatively small in the context of total people looking for rentals.
Mr Moore said the ABS data is in line with search data on realestate.com.au and is reflected in the fact that new arrivals tend to gravitate towards the capital cities.
