Your precious pet’s toys could have a range of potentially hazardous germs lurking on them
Dog owners are being warned that their pet's toys could be carrying some pretty nasty germs. From intestinal bacteria to worm eggs, people are being urged to clean their four-legged friend's toys, otherwise the grim organisms could end up being spread around the house.
"So because they’re chewing on those toys, especially soft toys, they’ll be passing the bacteria on. It’s not only an issue for the dogs but the bacteria can be passed on to owners who may pick up the toys when playing." Further research conducted by Ruffwear found Bacteroides fagilis is perhaps one of the most unpleasant types of bacteria that can be found in dogs teeth. This particular strain colonizes the intestinal tract of dogs as commensal bacteria. In other terms, it’s bacteria that comes from our dog’s intestines.
To keep your dog's toys cleaner than you perhaps do at the moment, here are three top tips to ensure they aren’t spreading unwanted germs and bacteria around your home. And remember, always check for and follow the product specific care instructions.
