Iran cancels accreditation of UN nuclear inspector who 'triggered an alarm' at Natanz uranium enrichment plant

A handout picture released by Iran's Atomic Energy Organization on November 6, 2019, reportedly shows a truck carrying UF6 fuel leaving the Natanz nuclear power plant in the central Iranian province of Isfahan to the underground Fordow facility.

Iran's announcement that it would resume enrichment at the Fordow plant from 2030 GMT Wednesday had drawn a chorus of concern from the remaining parties to the troubled agreement. A source close to the UN watchdog told AFP that it has inspectors on the ground in Fordow and would report "very rapidly" on the steps taken by Iran.

Iran said on Thursday it had cancelled the accreditation of a UN nuclear inspector after she triggered an alarm last week at the entrance to the Natanz uranium enrichment plant. According to a source close to the IAEA, the 35 members of its council of governors will hold a special meeting dedicated to Iran.French President Emmanuel Macron said Iran had made "grave" decisions and its resumption of uranium enrichment was a "profound change" from Tehran's previous position.
