Tuesday night’s performance of Sydney Theatre Company’s acclaimed production The Picture of Dorian Gray ended prematurely after its sole cast member, Eryn Jean Norvill, slipped and fell on stage.

Within seconds of the actor falling, production staff reacted, said Power. Curtains were drawn, house lights turned on and crew announced an intermission of ten minutes, with plans to resume the final scene of the two-hour play. Audience members were visibly upset and concerned for Norvill’s safety, and disappointed that the show had ended before the final scene after what one described as a “bravura performance”.They flocked to buy programs, asking a staff member if Norvill was OK and whether her understudy would perform on Wednesday.
