A university research centre on the NSW south coast ace the world's toughest green test to join an exclusive list of some of the world's most sustainable buildings.
A university research centre on the New South Wales south coast has joined an exclusive list of some of the world's most sustainable buildings.The centre's director says the building is a new benchmark in sustainable construction in AustraliaThe Sustainable Buildings Research Centre at the University of Wollongong has become the only building in the country to receive full marks under the Living Building Challenge, and one of only 24 buildings worldwide to meet the benchmark.
The Institute describes the standard as,"a green building certification program and sustainable design framework that visualises the ideal for the built environment"."The Living Building Challenge is a step above the current benchmarks used in Australia," Professor Cooper said.
