Imam Mohammad Hadi of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Australia has claimed the 16-year-old alleged terrorist had “nothing to do with Islam” and has urged against retaliatory attacks.

A Muslim cleric has denounced the alleged stabbing at a western Sydney church and distanced the attacker from the religion of Islam .

Translators who listened to the audio told Sky News Australia the words allegedly spoken by the boy were to the effect of:"If he didn't swear at my Prophet I wouldn't be here... If he didn't get involved in the of my religion, I wouldn't have come here."Imam Hadi said his reaction, like “most people” in Australia, was that of “utter shock”.

Faraz Tahir, a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, was one of six people killed in the Westfield Bondi Junction stabbing attack.
