Four alleged Islamic State group militants are killed when authorities thwart an attack on a state security building in Saudi Arabia's central Riyadh province.

Online videos showed a car at a checkpoint with its doors open and two bloody corpses splayed on the ground nearby. Gunshots could also be heard.

The Islamic State group's official news agency, Amaq, claimed responsibility for the attack via a video released later on Sunday .who many believe is still alive despite rumours of his death.
