Super fund investor and developer ISPT has secured life insurance giant TAL as the anchor tenant for a 1970s Melbourne office tower, which will undergo a $150 million overhaul to bring it into the net zero, carbon-neutral age.
TAL has also secured the former National Australia Bank building’s signage rights, after the Big Four Bank moved down the road in October toISPT will spend $150 million revamping 500 Bourke Street, Melbourne. 500 Bourke Street will operate solely from renewable energy and be carbon-neutral from day one of construction , putting it in a position to compete for tenants alongside a raft of new towers with high sustainability ratings, such as Cbus Property’s nearby 435 Bourke Street tower, whichThe project is ISPT’s biggest repurposing exercise yet. Once complete, it is expected to create a $655 million asset offering 44,000 sq m of prime office space over 34 levels.
Upon completion, Ms Ward said 500 Bourke Street would offer an “inclusive, connected and sustainable community”.
