Israel has declared it will not consider a temporary pause in the conflict with Hamas until the terror group releases hostages captured in the October 7 attacks.
Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu will not agree on ceasefire until Hamas releases more than 240 hostages, as Hezbollah threatens to escalate war on border
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with United States' Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Friday, where the top American official threw support behind Israel, while urging for a pause in the conflict to ensure humanitarian aid was delivered. In a televised address after meeting the US Secretary of State, Mr Netanyahu vowed soldiers will continue to fight to"destroy" Hamas and return captives to loved ones.
Mr Blinken, who is on his third trip to Tel Aviv since the conflict erupted, reiterated the point Israel had the right to defend itself but must ensure innocent Palestinians were not being caught up in the crossfire of the escalating conflict. In his first remarks since the October 7 invasion, he said the group was prepared for"any possibility", which could also include American warships.
Hezbollah chief's message comes after it claimed to have launched almost two dozen strikes on Israeli army, using explosive drones for the first time.
