Israel’s Ambassador to Australia Amir Maimon says Israel is “in full compliance" with international law as it continues its retaliation assault against Hamas.
“Israel, in accordance with the law, is not obliged to provide humanitarian assistance, but to allow the passage of the humanitarian aid as we are doing for the last few days,” Mr Maimon said. In recent days, more than 30 trucks have crossed the Rafah crossing from the Egyptian side of the Gaza Strip, carrying medical supplies, water and food.
“While the international community is so focused on the humanitarian condition in Gaza, let me also bring up our concern about the humanitarian condition … of the 222 Israelis that were abducted, that were hijacked – among them, elderly people, babies and others,” Mr Maimon said.“We are still waiting to see the international community putting the pressure on this issue exactly as they are putting the pressure on some other issues.
