Israel has launched airstrikes in southern Lebanon against Hezbollah, as the militant group says it has responded by launching 'a large number of drones'. Sirens have been heard in northern parts of Israel - and reports suggest flights to and from Tel Aviv have been suspended. In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces accused Hezbollah of 'preparing to file missiles and rockets toward Israeli territory'.
The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, described Shukr as 'one of the most wanted terrorists in the world'. The Lebanese National News Agency described attacks by 'enemy warplanes' which have caused 'severe damage to property, crops, and infrastructure, especially the electricity and water networks'.
